Your Wedding Can Now Be Filmed in Virtual Reality

You can watch yourself at your wedding like you are your own guest, years after the event, if your wedding is filmed in virtual reality. Now THAT is fabulous.

Enter Virtual Reality Wedding Photographers

These are the people who bring the future into your wedding. A company based in the U.S. is now offering to film wedding ceremonies in 360-degree, spherical video. Or in other words, in virtual reality. Yep, you can have a VR version of your wedding. You can be AT YOUR OWN WEDDING as a guest. And YOU KNOW the first thing that you will do is… you will check out your own butt to see how hot it looks. Don’t worry, it is the hottest it will ever look, it’s all downhill from the wedding. Sweet!

Choose your wedding shoes and dancing shoes carefully!
You can watch your wedding in 3D for years after the event happened, like you are there. Get your dancing shoes on!

Not only can you review your wedding like you are a guest, your subsequent children (if you choose to have any, no pressure but who will pay your pension) will also be able to attend as guests, even though they aren’t born yet. It’s the coolest idea ever. EVER.

So who are these people bringing this new self-butt-check technology to you? The company is called Cinemersia. They are a live-action VR cinema production company, but they have created a spin-off company to capture weddings in immersive, virtual reality.

Choose Your Wedding Shoes Carefully

Think this is a one-off? Nope. VR productions are rising. They were prominent at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. “With the eruption of VR into the consumer market,” said David Marlett, principal of Cinemersia, “it makes sense for every wedding to now be captured in full spherical 360 degrees. Brides and grooms will forever be able to return to the middle of their ceremonies, effectively being there again and again, looking around, seeing their guests, feeling the moment immersively. The opportunity should not be missed to capture it while you can.”

You’ll be able to admire your wedding shoes from all angles for years to come with virtual reality photography. Choose carefully!

Those wedding shoes that you are wearing? You will be able to admire them in 3D for years to come. If only you could re-live eating all the food again and drinking all the booze too. Let’s all pray to the software gods that this is coming.

Virtual Reality Equipment You Will Need

To watch your wedding in 3D, you will need to get yourself some equipment to watch it on. A good google exercise is to look up Samsung’s Headgear, or Oculus Rift. Some mobile phones are even being sold with a VR headset in which you insert your phone, so the equipment you need to watch the event in retrospect isn’t always expensive or difficult to obtain.

Still want to continue your VR adventure on your honeymoon? Personal VR cameras are starting to hit the market, so you could make your own VR movies. Okay back away from the amateur porn, calm down, no one wants to know about that part of your honeymoon. We mean of you guys holding hands in the sunset on the beach. Major brands such as Kodak, Nokia, and soon Nikon, are pushing the quality of 360-degree videos exponentially.

Everybody’s wedding should be preserved in 3D photography.

There is now also a range of software available for stitching and editing the VR video footage together. However VR footage is much more complex than normal video editing. At this stage it might be better to outsource this aspect until you work out how to not accidentally stitch your mother-in-law to the virtual wedding buffet table.

Preserving Your Memories

Says 3D Wedding PhotoGuru Marlett, “I started thinking about this when I was considering my three daughters’ ‘someday’ weddings. Of course I’ll capture their weddings in full VR. Not only will they be able to return there, but their children, grandchildren, and so on will effectively be there on that special day. That’s pretty mind-blowing if you think about it. And that got me to thinking that everyone’s wedding should be captured and preserved, now that it’s possible. Wedding photography and videography are terrific for what they are, but nothing short of VR can place you back there, in the moment, preserving it forever.”

wedding shoes
As well as choosing the right wedding shoes, your choice of flowers is important too. In 3D, ugly fashions will come back to haunt you!

This is all assuming that you WANT a wedding. Interest in marriage is falling, globally. But you could record other events, like your 21st birthday party, your graduation, or having a baby. Or you could get VR footage of your weird old teacher being horribly drunk and dancing on a table at a school reunion while partially clothed. It’s all good.

If you don’t have VR headgear to view the footage once filmed, the VR video can be seen on YouTube like any normal video. But do get the headgear, because your butt won’t check itself out.
